The Nigeria Women’s Football League has fined Osun Babes N2.5 million following regulatory breaches that led to the abandonment of their 2025/2026 Premiership fixture against FC Robo Queens at Onikan Stadium, Lagos.
The match, scheduled for Wednesday, February 18, failed to kick off after Osun Babes, the designated away team, did not provide an alternative kit with clearly displayed names and numbers, despite a confirmed colour clash with the home side.
With no compliant change strip available, match officials awarded a walkover to Robo Queens in accordance with league rules.
A review by the NWFL on Thursday found that Osun Babes violated multiple provisions of the league’s regulations.
The club breached Article 10.3, which requires visiting teams to adopt their second-choice colours to avoid clashes, and Article 10.5, which mandates away teams to switch kits if the home side wears its registered first-choice strip.

Additionally, the club’s failure to honour the fixture without force majeure or acceptable justification contravened Article 14.7.
As a result, the league imposed a N1 million fine for the kit infringement and N1.5 million for failing to fulfil the fixture, bringing the total sanction to N2.5 million.
Commenting on the decision, the NWFL Chief Operating Officer, Modupe Shabi, said the measures were necessary to maintain professional standards and safeguard the competition’s integrity.
“The NWFL remains committed to upholding the highest standards of professionalism and compliance. Our regulations are clear, and all clubs are expected to meet their obligations fully.
These measures are necessary to protect the integrity and credibility of the league and are not punitive for their own sake,” she stated.
The league reiterated its commitment to discipline, fair play, and orderly conduct of matches, urging all Premiership clubs to adhere strictly to operational requirements to avoid similar sanctions.
