Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State on Monday, September 22, visited President Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, marking his first official engagement at the State House since returning to office.
The governor, who arrived at the Villa at about 6:20 p.m., went directly to the President’s office.
Fubara had been out of office for six months after Tinubu declared emergency rule in Rivers on March 18, 2025, in response to intense political unrest.
Alongside the governor, his deputy and members of the State House of Assembly were also suspended.

The emergency rule was lifted on September 17, 2025, when Tinubu restored Fubara and other suspended officials to their positions.
In a statewide address shortly after his reinstatement, Fubara expressed gratitude to the President, stating, “I remain eternally grateful.”
Although details of his visit to the Villa were not made public, it is widely thought to be connected to his reinstatement and the state’s recent political resolution.
