A commercial tricycle rider in Aba, Abia State, identified as Lucky Okoro, has been widely praised for his honesty after returning ₦4 million forgotten by a passenger in his tricycle.
The incident, which has gone viral on social media, occurred after Okoro picked up a woman from the Aba Main Park and dropped her off at Ariaria.
The woman, said to be a Cameroonian, mistakenly left behind a bag containing a large sum of money in Okoro’s tricycle, commonly known as “keke.”
In a series of Facebook posts on Thursday, Okoro recounted how he discovered the money and immediately set out to trace the woman.
He wrote, “Jehovah thank you. I have made your name to be praised.
“She stopped and forgot her bag inside my Keke, so I was looking for her but couldn’t find her.
“I returned to the park and didn’t see her again. Then, I went back to Ariaria Market and found her at the junction where she was crying and almost wanted to kill herself.”
Okoro said he approached her, comforted her, and handed over the money.
He also helped her get a hotel room to rest and recover from the emotional ordeal.
“I called her, wiped all her tears, then returned the money to her and took her to a hotel and she paid for it.

“She is from Cameroon, she’s not even Nigerian, not to talk of being from Aba,” he added.
Despite being mocked by some of his colleagues, who called him “mugun” (a slang for someone considered naïve), Okoro remained proud of his actions.
“Some of my fellow Keke people called me mugun, but I am not a mugun.
“I love what I did,” he declared. “All thanks to Jehovah. I have made her happy today. She was happy that I returned her ₦4 million.” he said.
Okoro also identified himself as a Jehovah’s Witness from Umuomei in Obingwa Local Government Area of Abia State.
This has since sparked widespread admiration, with many Nigerians hailing his integrity and calling for public recognition of his honesty.
Earlier in May, Governor Alex Otti of Abia State rewarded another commercial tricycle driver in Aba for returning N2.4 million, which a passenger had forgotten inside his keke.
The governor awarded him ₦1.4 million and praised him as a symbol of honesty and good character.
