Many ex-Niger Delta agitators stormed the streets of Yenagoa, Bayelsa State on Wednesday to stage a peaceful protest demanding increased funding for Tantita Security Services Limited.

Tantita is a private security firm led by Tompolo, credited with stabilising Nigeria’s oil production.

In a statement by the Spokesperson of the protesters, Theophilus Ebiama, made available to First News correspondent on Thursday, said, “Before Tantita, oil production was less than one million barrels per day. Today, thanks to Tantita’s efforts in securing the nation’s pipelines, we are nearly exceeding the OPEC quota.

“The government must provide more funding to sustain this progress.”

The protest concluded with the ex-agitators passing a vote of confidence in the Administrator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme, Dennis Otuaro’s leadership of the programme.

They praised the programme for providing jobs and skills training to Niger Delta youths, contributing significantly to regional development.

Ebiama further said, “Under Otuaro, the PAP has transformed lives, empowered our youths, and fostered peace. We stand firmly behind him and Tompolo in their efforts to uplift our region.”

The former agitators reaffirmed their dedication to promoting peace and appealed to all involved parties to back the current initiatives aimed at developing the Niger Delta.

They emphasised the need to cease divisive actions that threaten the stability of the region.
