Anambra State Commissioner for Women and Social Welfare, Ify Obinabo, has raised concerns over an unusual case involving an 18-year-old apprentice who allegedly impregnated 10 girls within a span of five months.
Obinabo, speaking during a live social media broadcast on Wednesday, described the situation as “beyond her capacity” and appealed to the public for advice and intervention.
According to her, the teenage boy was initially sent to learn a trade, but just three months into his apprenticeship, he impregnated both his master’s daughter and the salesgirl at the shop. This led to his immediate dismissal.
However, things worsened after the boy returned to his village, where he allegedly impregnated eight more girls, bringing the total to ten within five months.
Quoting the boy’s mother, who visited her office in distress, Obinabo said: “Anytime I see a girl coming towards our house nowadays, my heart would jump. Please, I need help.”

The commissioner expressed shock over the boy’s ability to lure so many girls, saying: “I asked the boy the magic he uses in luring the girls to bed, but he told me he always tells them that he loves them and would like to marry them any time he acquires wealth.”
Obinabo did not disclose the names of the boy or his village but insisted the situation may require spiritual or psychological attention. She called on community leaders, psychologists, and members of the public to suggest possible solutions.
“This matter is beyond me because of the boy’s age and the number of girls involved,” she said. “That’s why I need help to solve it.”
