2023: Nasarawa gov supports call for southern president

Nasarawa State Governor Abdullahi Sule has expressed his support for the next president in 2023 to come from the South.

This, he said, would strengthen unity in the country.

The governor who spoke on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Monday, said, “I believe in the rotational presidency in Nigeria, I strongly believe in that. This is my view, it is not the view of the All Progressives Congress governors.”

The governor, however, advised that the best person should emerge as the nation’s president.

Meanwhile, no political party had made it known whether it would adopt zoning or not.

But several calls have been coming on the need to zone the next presidency to the South.

South-South produced former President Goodluck Jonathan, who ruled for five years.

South-West produced Olusegun Obasanjo from Ogun State, who ruled for eight years. Obasanjo was president between 1999 and 2007.

The South-East is the only zone in the southern region of Nigeria yet to produce the president of the country.
