According to a recent survey by the public advocacy group We2Geda Foundation, Peter Obi, the presidential candidate for the Labour Party (LP), is in the lead with 51% of the vote.
The results of the poll were dated September 17, 2022, and they were signed by Muna Obioha, a member of the BoT, and Ibrahim Abdulkareem, the chairman of We2Geda’s Board of Trustees.
According to the group, 51 percent of respondents stated they would support Obi as their preferred candidate, 25 percent would support Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and 19 percent would support Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
“Further analysis also shows that Peter Obi remained a consistent favourite in the four major geopolitical zones including North-Central, South-South, South-West and South-East, while Alhaji Atiku Abubakar was the poll leader in the NorthEast and North-West zones,” the foundation said.
According to We2Geda, there were 15,438 registered voters in 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory, with the majority of respondents in a random survey being Nigerians between the ages of 26 and 50.
Earlier, a pro-democracy organisation, ANAP Foundation, released the results of its poll ahead of the 2023 presidential election, describing it as a three-horse race between Obi, Atiku, and Tinubu. The new poll was released about two weeks after that.
Obi is in the lead with 21 percent of the vote, according to the ANAP survey results.
The Independent National Electoral Commission has stated that the official start of the 2023 election campaigns for the 18 recognized political parties would be on Wednesday, September 28, 2022.
