2023 Presidency: Ambode sends message to Tinubu, Atiku, others, says ‘youths are coming’

Immediate past Lagos State Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode, has suggested that the All Progressives Congress national leader, Bola Tinubu, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, and other oldies eying the presidential seat in 2023 should forget it.

Ambode did not specifically mention the names of Tinubu, Atiku, or other old politicians positioning themselves to succeed President Muhammadu Buhari, however, he warned that the ‘youths are coming’ and that ‘power is in their hands.’

The former Lagos State governor, who had been silent since 2019, when he was denied opportunity by his APC party to go for a second term in office, spoke in a post on his Twitter handle on Tuesday, February 1, 2022.

He wrote, “After all we have been through, God has been faithful. Thank you for the overwhelming endorsement of our modest contributions to the growth of Lagos. It can only get better for Lagos, and indeed Nigeria.

“The youths are coming. The power is in their hands. Go and get your Permanent Voters Card (PVC) ready. Your future is NOW!”

Many Nigerians have been clamouring for a youth president. Some have even suggested that politicians like Tinubu, Atiku, among others, who claim to be in their late 60s and above, should give way for youths in the 2023 elections.
