FormerAnambra State Governor, Peter Obi, on Tuesday said that he would run for the 2023 presidential election if his party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), zones the ticket to the South.
He stated this in a post on his Twitter handle, adding that Nigerians will also hear from him if the PDP throws the contest open.
He wrote, “Yes, I will step into the field to contest for the opportunity to serve this great country as President if my party, the PDP, zones the ticket to the south.
“But if it is thrown open, Nigerians will also hear from me.”
Obi contested as the running mate of Atiku Abubakar in the 2019 elections.
They were defeated by President Muhammadu Buhari and Vice President Yemi Osinbajo both at the polls and in courts, up to the Supreme Court.
