Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike on Tuesday denied claims in some quarters that he had agreed to be the running mate to the 2023 presidential hopeful, Atiku Abubakar, in the Peoples Democratic Party.
Wike, who reacted to the rumours during a stakeholders meeting of the Rivers State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party at the Government House in Port Harcourt, said that he did not enter into any such agreement with either Atiku or any other politician.
The Rivers State governor assured the stakeholders that at the right time, members of the party in the southern region would speak in one voice about their decision on the 2023 presidential election.
At the meeting attended by party executives, national and state assembly members, LG chairmen, cabinet members, and other high-ranking members of the party in the state, Wike also harped on the chances of PDP retaining the Rivers State governorship seat.
He equally spoke on his administration’s recent efforts to recover some critical assets of the state.
