Yusuf Buhari, the only son of former President Muhammadu Buhari, has announced his intention to contest for a seat in the House of Representatives in the 2027 general elections.
In a letter dated April 3, 2026, Yusuf stated that he plans to represent the Sandamu, Daura, Mai’Adua Federal Constituency in Katsina State under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
He explained that his decision followed extensive consultations with key stakeholders across the constituency.
“I am extremely delighted to inform you of my intention to contest, as my contribution to ensuring good and qualitative leadership,” he wrote, while appealing for support to drive infrastructural and human development across the constituency.

The development was confirmed by Bashir Ahmad, former special assistant on digital communications to the late Muhammadu Buhari.
In a post shared on his X page on Monday night, Ahmad said the decision came after broad engagement with stakeholders.
“Following wide consultations, Yusuf Buhari, the son of our late boss, President Muhammadu Buhari, has informed stakeholders of his intention to contest for the House of Representatives seat for the Sandamu/Daura/Mai’Adua constituency under the All Progressives Congress,” he wrote.
