Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni and his Borno counterpart Babagana Zulum have backed President Bola Tinubu for a second term, citing gains in security and economic reforms.
The two governors spoke in Gombe during a meeting of the All Progressives Congress (APC) North East Consultative Forum.
Buni said Tinubu has stayed focused despite economic pressure and insecurity, pushing policies that aim to reposition Nigeria for the long term.
“In the last two years, President Tinubu’s administration introduced bold reforms to improve citizens’ lives,” he said.
He acknowledged that the reforms have come with some hardship but insisted they are necessary to build a stable future.
“These policies require careful strategic planning and sufficient time, and a single term may not be adequate for their full implementation. To deliver lasting results, more than one term may be needed for effective and efficient execution of these initiatives,” Buni added.
He noted progress in the fight against insecurity, especially in the North East.
“The administration has introduced new measures to tackle insecurity in the North East,” he said.

“These measures would allow residents to return to their farms, enhancing food sufficiency and reinforcing food security.”
Buni urged residents to keep supporting the federal government and security agencies. He also called on the APC North East Forum to back Tinubu’s re-election bid.
Zulum aligned with Buni, saying Tinubu’s leadership is helping restore calm in crisis-prone communities.
“President Tinubu’s government is restoring peace in the region,” he said, noting that “the results of those efforts (are) becoming increasingly visible.”
He backed the push for a second term, arguing that continuity will help consolidate the work already done across key sectors.
