The Federal High Court in Abuja has dismissed a suit brought by Engr. Yakubu Muhammad Kingsley (YMK) against the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP), its presidential candidate, Donald Duke, and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The development was contained in a statement issued by Abdulhakeem Ago Abdullahi, Assistant National Legal Adviser of the PRP.
In its judgment delivered on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, the court upheld a preliminary objection filed by the PRP and Duke, holding that Kingsley instituted the case outside the period allowed under the Constitution.
The court went further to examine the substantive claims contained in the suit and found in favour of the respondents.
One of the issues before the court concerned an allegation that Duke was not a valid member of the PRP.

The court held that questions concerning membership of a political party constitute internal party affairs and therefore fall outside its jurisdiction.
The court also ruled that Kingsley had failed to produce the party guidelines which he claimed were violated during the screening process.
Another claim involved alleged over-voting during the PRP presidential primary conducted in Bauchi, Gombe and Kwara states.
On that issue, the court found that the plaintiff had not presented crucial documents, including the party’s membership register, accreditation records and final results of the primary election, to support the allegation.
Having resolved the issues against the plaintiff, the court dismissed the suit and ruled in favour of the PRP, Duke and INEC.
The judgment effectively leaves the respondents without the legal challenge mounted by Kingsley over the party’s screening process and presidential primary.
