2027: Northern Clique Plotting Against Tinubu’s Re-Election — Oyinloye

All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain Olatunbosun Oyintiloye has warned that a small group of northern elites is allegedly working to derail President Bola Tinubu’s chances of securing a second term in 2027.

Speaking to journalists in Osogbo on Sunday, August 10, the former lawmaker claimed this clique has a history of mounting opposition against southern presidents, using blackmail and political pressure to weaken their administrations.

“This has been recurring and the nation’s political history won’t forget the kind of intimidation southern presidents often suffered in the hands of very few men from the north who always mount serious opposition to the re-election bid of such president,” Oyintiloye said.

He urged the north’s recognised political leaders and royal fathers to distance themselves from what he described as “self-appointed leaders of the north” and ensure they do not allow such opposition to gain traction against Tinubu.

“But in the case of President Bola Tinubu, he has done enough to get the support of the major power bloc in the north.

“Therefore, the time has come for the region to further put the tiny few behind the mischief being plotted against the president where they really belong,” Oyinloye said.

The APC chieftain also called on southern political and traditional leaders to rally behind the president and resist aligning with those seeking to undermine him.

“And this is the more reason the southern leaders must rise and rally support for the president.

“They should shield the president against unwarranted attacks from just a handful of politicians from the north,” he added.
