Former Sokoto State Governor and Senator representing Sokoto South, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, received a massive reception on Friday, August 15, as he arrived in Sokoto metropolis.
In what observers view as a strategic display of influence ahead of 2027 general election, supporters from Sokoto, Kebbi, and Zamfara turned out in large numbers.
The former Speaker of the House of Representatives was greeted by a sea of party members, youth groups, women’s associations, and loyalists.
Streets were lined with crowds waving banners, chanting solidarity songs, and signalling their readiness to challenge the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) for power.
Tambuwal, who was Director General of the Atiku Abubakar Presidential Campaign Organisation during the 2023 polls, used the occasion to launch a scathing attack on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the APC-led administration.

He accused them of driving Nigeria deeper into economic hardship, insecurity, and political instability.
“In 2023, we went round the country warning Nigerians not to vote for Bola Ahmed Tinubu, a man whose leadership would throw this country into what I called Bola’s Garbage, and today, the hardship, hunger, and hopelessness you see around are proof of what we said,” Tambuwal declared to thunderous applause.
He urged Nigerians from all backgrounds to unite and mobilise to remove the APC and Tinubu from office in 2027, insisting that the government had no solutions to the nation’s woes.
“My message is simple: we must join forces to send APC and Tinubu packing in 2027. The ADC and our allies will galvanise every corner of this country to make that happen.
“We will not be intimidated, we will not be silenced, and we will not allow the suffering of Nigerians to continue unchecked,” he vowed.
