2027: Tinubu Has Paid His Dues, Deserves Re-election — Gbenga Daniel

Former Governor of Ogun State and Senator representing Ogun East, Otunba Gbenga Daniel, has declared unwavering support for President Bola Tinubu’s second-term ambition, insisting that he has “paid his dues” and deserves re-election in 2027.

Daniel spoke on Sunday, September 21, at the unveiling of the multimillion-naira Renewed Hope International Market in Igode, Sagamu Local Government Area, where he also launched the BATOGD Movement to rally support for Tinubu’s re-election.

“Let me state unequivocally that our support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is sacrosanct, and our reasons are very clear,” Daniel said.

“Asíwájú Bola Ahmed Tinubu has provided our country with the first-ever conscious leadership through a systematic process of rethinking the nation, redirecting our economy, and reengineering the protocols of our national engagements.”

The senator praised Tinubu for his bold steps in tackling Nigeria’s economic challenges.

He said, “Courage, in itself, is a virtue, and only a leader who appreciates the real essence of power can dare to confront the monumental missteps of the past and chart a new way forward.

“This is not to say that everything has become rosy, but if we take the issue of fuel subsidy removal as an example, we can appreciate that it has, to a large extent, addressed the problem of scarcity.”

Daniel urged governors to make better use of the increased allocations resulting from subsidy removal.

“The fallout of fuel subsidy removal is that more funds have been returned to states and Local Governments. Their allocations have increased more than fourfold, and governors must now give a good account of this generosity from the President,” he said.

He also linked his strong support to his long-standing relationship with Tinubu. “This is also an open endorsement of his leadership and his political project — for the benefit of Nigeria and Nigerians.

“Let it not be forgotten that President Tinubu is a bastion of democracy who has paid his dues and deserves the support of well-meaning Nigerians,” Daniel added.
