2027: We’ll Defeat Tinubu Even If Onanuga Heads INEC — ADC Youths

Youths of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, have cautioned President Bola Tinubu against influencing the appointment of a new Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, chairman when Prof. Mahmood Yakubu’s tenure ends in December 2025.

Speaking under the aegis of the African Democratic Youth Congress, ADYC, in Abuja on Tuesday, August 19, the group said any attempt to manipulate the process would be fiercely resisted.

They stressed that Nigerians were watching closely, noting that the integrity of INEC leadership would determine the credibility of the 2027 polls.

“Politics is about numbers. They can bring as much money they have but we are going to beat them silly in 2027,” the youths declared.

Reacting to speculations that Tinubu could consider his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, for the INEC role, the group dismissed the idea, saying the ADC was prepared to challenge any move they believe undermines democratic values.

“We saw Onanuga asking how market. The waters have been tested. We have other elections coming up and that is when they will know how market is because it is going to be fire for fire,” they added.

The group maintained that the ADC would match the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, “measure for measure” if it attempts to subvert the people’s will in the 2027 elections.
