The Matawalle Political Movement (MPM) has felicitated Muslims in Zamfara State and across Nigeria on the occasion of the Eid-el-Maulud celebration, urging them to reflect on and emulate the virtues and teachings of Prophet Muhammad.
The group made the call in a statement issued on Tuesday by its Publicity Secretary, Malam Yusuf Idris Gusau, on behalf of the Minister of State for Defence, Dr Bello Mohammed Matawalle.
The movement described the 1448 Maulud celebration as an important opportunity for Muslims to reflect on the Prophet’s teachings on peace, unity, love, compassion and peaceful coexistence.
According to the group, the teachings of Prophet Muhammad extend across different aspects of human life and remain relevant to Muslims seeking to promote peace and harmony in society.
The MPM particularly urged Muslims to use the celebration to pray for the restoration of peace and stability in Zamfara State and Nigeria.
“Let’s use the Maulud preachings and prayer sessions to supplicate Allah for the return of peace in our dear state and Nigeria at large,” the statement said.
The group noted that the celebration was taking place at a critical period for Nigeria, especially with preparations for another election cycle already underway.
It therefore called on Muslims to intensify prayers for peaceful elections, national unity and divine guidance for political leaders and citizens.
The movement expressed concern about the possibility of threats and violence during the electoral period, urging Nigerians to seek divine intervention for a peaceful process.
“You will realise therefore that at this critical time, we and our great nation need prayers the most for Allah to continue to guide us through the election season where no one will be under any threat,” it said.
The MPM further encouraged Muslims to uphold the virtues associated with Prophet Muhammad by promoting tolerance, peaceful coexistence and respect for others.
It said the values taught by the Prophet remained essential to addressing divisions and strengthening peaceful relations among Nigerians, particularly at a time of heightened political activity.
The movement also prayed for continued divine assistance for Zamfara State and the country, particularly in overcoming security challenges and restoring lasting peace.
It extended its goodwill to Muslims across Nigeria, praying that the Maulud celebration would bring blessings, peace and prosperity to Muslim faithful and the wider Nigerian population.
The group also called on Muslims to make the occasion an opportunity for sincere prayers for the country while putting the Prophet’s teachings into practice in their daily lives.
