The Ondo State Police Command has arrested a 23-year-old man, Emmanuel Usman, for allegedly raping a 14-year-old girl (name withheld) in the Ijebu Owo area of the state.
This was made known in a statement by the command’s spokesperson, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, on Monday.
According to the statement, the case was reported on the 29th of March, 2026, by the victim’s family.
The PPRO stated that the suspect was apprehended following intelligence reports.
The victim alleged that the suspect forcefully dragged her into his employer’s office located along Ijebu Owo, where he committed the crime.
It was gathered that the suspect threatened her with dire consequences should she disclose the incident to anyone.
The Police spokesperson said that upon receiving the report, operatives swiftly moved into action, leading to the arrest of the suspect.
Jimoh disclosed that Usman is currently in police custody and has made useful statements that is aiding investigation.
Jimoh added that the suspect will be charged to court upon conclusion of investigation.
First Daily correspondent learnt that the victim is currently receiving treatment at the General Hospital, Owo.

The Commissioner of Police for Ondo State Command, CP Adebowale, has ordered that the case be treated with the highest level of diligence, sensitivity, and urgency to ensure that justice is achieved.
He reaffirmed the Command’s firm commitment to tackling all forms of sexual and gender-based violence throughout the state.
The Command unequivocally condemns acts of defilement and any abuse against minors, assuring the public that perpetrators will be prosecuted in line with the law.
CP Lawal also commended the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, for his consistent drive and strategic leadership in combating sexual and gender-based crimes, noting that these efforts have played a vital role in fostering a safer society.
Members of the public, especially parents and guardians, are encouraged to stay alert, educate their children on personal safety, and promptly report any suspicious or criminal activities to the nearest police station.
