A 29-year-old man identified as Ebikeme Seiye has been arrested in Bayelsa State over the alleged rape of a five-year-old girl.
Seiye, reportedly from the Akede community in Sagbama Local Government Area of the state, was apprehended by operatives of the Bayelsa State Community Safety Corps, Amassoma Cluster, on Wednesday, September 30, 2026.
The suspect was arrested after the victim’s elder cousin, Tobokeakpo Selekeme, reported the incident to the authorities.
During interrogation, Seiye allegedly confessed to sexually assaulting the minor and reportedly claimed that he was under the influence of hard drugs at the time of the incident.

Following his arrest, the Amassoma Cluster handed the suspect over to the Amassoma Police Divisional Headquarters for further investigation and possible prosecution.
The five-year-old victim is currently receiving medical treatment at a hospital.
Police authorities are expected to investigate the circumstances surrounding the alleged incident and determine the appropriate legal action as the case progresses.
