In a remarkable display of solidarity, all 109 Senators of the 10th Senate have generously donated their December salaries, totaling N109 million, to aid the victims affected by the drone mishap in Tudun Biri, Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
The announcement was made on Sunday by Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau I. Jibrin, during a high-powered delegation’s visit to the Kaduna Government House.
Senator Barau conveyed that the funds would be forwarded to the state governor, Senator Uba Sani, for prompt distribution to the affected victims. The gesture was met with appreciation as Governor Sani expressed gratitude for the Senators’ benevolent donation.
The Senate delegation, led by Senator Barau, included prominent figures such as Senate Leader Senator Micheal Opayemi Bamidele, Chief Whip Senator Ali Ndume, Minority Leader Senator Abba Moro, and others. The delegation visited the Barau Dikko Hospital to meet with victims affected by the drone mishap, demonstrating their commitment to standing with the affected community.
In response to the Senators’ visit, Governor Uba Sani voiced concerns about the coordination among security agencies in Nigeria, emphasizing the need for a unified approach. He urged the Senate to play a role in ensuring justice for the Tudun-Biri community survivors who lost their relatives in the tragic incident.
Governor Sani emphasized the importance of a speedy and thorough investigation by the Army into the drone mishap, advocating for holding the perpetrators accountable to prevent future incidents. The Governor reiterated his call for the establishment of a state police, believing it would enhance the existing security framework.
The Senate’s generous contribution reflects a united effort to support the victims and address the broader security challenges facing the region, as leaders from both the legislative and executive branches come together to provide assistance and seek lasting solutions.
