Five chieftains of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Zamfara State have been abducted by bandits while traveling within the state.
According to security analyst Zagazola Makama, the politicians, all from Kaura Namoda Local Government Area, were kidnapped on Saturday while en route to Marafa.
The abductees were reportedly heading to the residence of Senator Abdulaziz Yari, who represents Zamfara West, when armed attackers ambushed their convoy.
Among those abducted are Yahaya Sani Dogon Kade, chairman of Dan Isah ward, and Bello Dealer, chairman of Sakajiki ward.
Efforts to reach Yazid Abubakar, the spokesperson for the Zamfara police command, for confirmation were unsuccessful at the time of reporting.

Zamfara State has remained a hotspot for banditry and kidnappings, with criminal groups terrorizing communities in the north-west region. The state is one of the operational bases of Turji Bello, a notorious bandit declared wanted by the Nigerian Army.
On February 24, gunmen launched multiple attacks in Gusau and Bukuyyum LGAs, killing two residents and abducting several people in Kairu community, Zugu district.
Another group of bandits kidnapped six women in Shemori village, while separate attackers abducted a woman and her one-year-old child in Mada town, Gusau LGA.
Security agencies have yet to release an official statement on the latest abduction.
