Aston Villa Close in on UCL Quarter-Final With Brugge Win

Aston Villa took a huge step towards the UEFA Champions League quarter-final after beating Club Brugge 3-1 away on Tuesday night.

Unai Emery’s men showed early intent as they opened the scoring just three minutes into the game. However, the Belgian side responded swiftly through De Cuyper M., who found the net in the 12th minute to restore parity.

The match remained tightly contested until the 82nd minute when Mechele B. turned the ball into his own net, gifting Villa a crucial second goal.

Marco Asensio sealed the victory for the English side with a well taken penalty in the 88th minute, giving Aston Villa a comfortable advantage heading into the second leg.

The result leaves Aston Villa with one foot in the quarter-final, as they look to continue their impressive European campaign.
