The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has confirmed that former Comptroller-General of the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS), David Shikfu Parradang, was found dead in a hotel room in Abuja, hours after checking in with a female guest.
Dismissing earlier reports that he was kidnapped and murdered, the police stated that the retired CG lodged at Joy House Hotel, Area 3 Junction, on March 3, 2025, at around noon, after arriving in a black Mercedes Benz and paying ₦22,000 for a one-night stay.
According to a statement released by FCT Police spokesperson Josephine Adeh, shortly after checking in, Parradang requested a hotel room attendant to escort a female guest to his room. The lady reportedly left the hotel premises around 4 pm that same day.
However, Parradang did not exit his room afterward. Concerned about his whereabouts, a friend—a military officer—traced him to the hotel at around 4 am on March 4, 2025. Together with the hotel receptionist, they proceeded to his room, where they found him dead, seated in a chair.
Following the discovery, the Durumi Police Station was immediately alerted. Officers secured the crime scene, took photographs, and gathered relevant evidence before transferring the body to the National Hospital for further examination.

The police urged the public to disregard speculations of kidnapping or foul play, emphasizing that investigations are still ongoing to determine the exact cause of death.
“We urge the public and media outlets to refrain from spreading unverified information, including claims of kidnapping, that may incite fear or panic,” Adeh said.
Parradang, who served in the Nigerian Immigration Service for over 30 years, held several leadership roles before being appointed Comptroller-General. His tenure saw significant reforms in the service, particularly in border security and immigration policies.
As investigations continue, authorities remain committed to uncovering the circumstances surrounding his death and ensuring that justice is served.
