The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has scored a major breakthrough, apprehending a prime suspect linked to the shocking assassination of Brigadier General Uwen Harold Udokwere (rtd.). The retired military officer met his tragic end on the 22nd of June, 2024, when armed assailants invaded his Lokogoma residence in Abuja.
Renowned counter-insurgency expert Zagazola Makama disclosed on his X platform on the 9th of March, 2025, that the key suspect, 18-year-old Alkasim Mohammed, was captured in a well-coordinated sting operation by the elite Scorpion Squad. His alleged accomplice, 22-year-old Suleiman Abdullahi, was also taken into custody during the raid at Durumi Phase 2, Abuja.
During the operation, security operatives recovered a Beretta pistol with breach number 58866 and eleven rounds of 9mm live ammunition, a crucial link in unraveling a series of high-profile crimes.
Under intense interrogation, the duo reportedly confessed to their involvement in a notorious criminal syndicate terrorizing the FCT. Among their chilling admissions was the murder of Brigadier General Udokwere, who was fatally shot after the gang breached his home by scaling the fence.
Their crime trail, however, runs deeper. The suspects allegedly owned up to the brutal killing of Alhaji Auwal Abdullahi, a Bureau de Change operator, on the 7th of March, 2024.

The murder took place in Room 303 of Rita Lori Hotel, Garki. Adding to their list of atrocities, the same pistol found in their possession was reportedly used in an armed robbery targeting a Point-of-Sale (POS) operator, Miss Mercy Alo, in Jabi. The gang made away with ₦700,000 while also shooting a customer, Daniel Inalegwu, in the lower thigh before escaping.
Intelligence sources suggest that the gang has orchestrated numerous home invasions, carjackings, and abductions across Abuja and neighboring states. Law enforcement agencies are now intensifying efforts to track down the remaining members of the ruthless syndicate.
“We have strong leads on their associates and are determined to recover more hidden weapons. This arrest marks a significant step in dismantling organized crime in the FCT,” a police source confirmed.
With investigations still ongoing, the suspects remain in police custody and are expected to face the full weight of the law once the case is concluded.
