Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has inaugurated the newly built Akpor King’s Palace, marking a historic moment for the people of Akpor Kingdom.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony on Monday, Governor Fubara described the project as a fulfillment of his promise to provide a befitting palace for the traditional institution in the community.
He highlighted the significance of the palace, noting that it is the first to be built in the area in over two centuries, underscoring his administration’s commitment to community development.
“This is the first palace to be built in the community in over 200 years, a testament to our commitment to community development,” Fubara said.

The commissioning of the palace was performed by His Royal Majesty, Eze Chike Worlu Wodo, who commended the governor for his dedication to preserving and promoting the cultural heritage of Akpor Kingdom.
In recognition of his contributions, the governor was conferred with the honorary title of Omenma of Akpor Kingdom, a rare gesture of appreciation from the traditional leadership and the people of the community.
The event was attended by traditional rulers, government officials, and community leaders, who hailed the project as a milestone in the history of Akpor Kingdom in Rivers State.
