Enugu-Port Harcourt Expressway Section II to Be Ready by June — Umahi

The Minister of Works, David Umahi, has assured that the ongoing rehabilitation and reconstruction of the 56.10-km Enugu-Port Harcourt Expressway Section II (Umuahia–Aba) will be completed and ready for inauguration by June 2025.

Speaking during an inspection visit to the project site in Aba on Monday, Umahi expressed satisfaction with the pace and quality of work executed by Arab Contractors (Nig.) Ltd.

He noted that only about two kilometers of earthwork and four kilometers of asphalt work remain to be completed.

“I have directed the contractor to finish all earthwork and necessary processes by the end of April,” Umahi stated.

He attributed the smooth progress of the project to President Bola Tinubu’s commitment, highlighting that sufficient funds have been allocated for it in the 2024 and 2025 budgets.

Umahi also praised Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, for ensuring that traders and vehicles were removed from the construction area.

He emphasized that this intervention had significantly accelerated the project and would enhance the road’s durability.

Furthermore, the minister urged the people of the South-East to appreciate Tinubu for his infrastructural interventions in the region, claiming that no past administration had done as much for them.

“The entire South-East must give Mr. President 100 percent of their votes in 2027 to appreciate him. I’m the one fit to ask for your votes because he has used me to work for you,” Umahi declared.
