Lagos Police Arrest Couple for Kidnapping, Blackmailing Online Vendor

Lagos police have apprehended a couple, Emmanuel and Mmesoma Okafor, for allegedly kidnapping an online vendor who went to deliver a product in the Iyana Ishashi area.

The Lagos State Police Command’s spokesperson, Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the arrest during a press briefing on Monday.

According to Hundeyin, the victim reported the incident on Sunday, March 9, detailing how she was lured into a trap while attempting to fulfill a delivery order.

Upon arrival at the given address, she was forcibly dragged inside by the couple, stripped naked, beaten, and photographed in a compromising state.

The suspects then demanded a ransom of N2 million, threatening to release the explicit images if she failed to comply.

In distress, the victim managed to transfer N300,000 before being released, but the couple warned her that failure to pay the remaining amount would result in the images being leaked.

Following her release, she promptly reported the ordeal to the police, leading to a swift investigation. “The suspects were tracked and arrested. They are currently in custody as investigations continue,” Hundeyin stated.

The Lagos State Police Command has urged residents, especially online vendors, to exercise caution when making deliveries and report suspicious activities to authorities immediately.
