Pope Francis, who has been hospitalized for weeks with double pneumonia, is showing significant signs of improvement, and his prognosis is no longer considered uncertain, the Vatican announced on Monday.
In a statement, the Vatican confirmed that the 88-year-old pontiff’s clinical condition remains stable, with progress observed in recent days now further consolidated.
“The improvements recorded in the previous days have been further consolidated, as confirmed by blood tests, clinical objectivity, and the good response to pharmacological therapy,” the statement read.
Given this progress, doctors have revised their initial cautious prognosis, which had left his outcome uncertain.
However, due to the complexity of his condition and the severity of the infection he presented upon admission, medical experts have advised that Pope Francis remains in the hospital for continued pharmacological therapy.

Francis was admitted to Rome’s Gemelli hospital on February 14 with bronchitis, which later developed into pneumonia in both lungs.
During his stay, he experienced multiple respiratory crises but has been gradually recovering in recent days.
Despite his improvement, medical personnel continue to monitor his condition closely to ensure a full recovery.
