Operatives of the Department of State Services, on Friday, stopped a cameraman from TVC News from filming Nnamdi Kanu, the embattled leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), as he appeared for his resumed trial before a new judge at the Federal High Court in Abuja.

A video currently making the rounds on social media and was seen by First News on Friday shows a DSS officer forcefully seizing the TVC News camera from the journalist, preventing him from filming the proceedings.

Other operatives were also spotted aggressively pushing the cameraman and escorting him out of the courtroom.

In the video, a yet-to-be-identified woman’s voice rises defiantly as she confronts the security personnel, saying, “You won’t get away with that with me.”

The IPOB leader has been held in the custody of the Department of State Services (DSS) since his arrest in June 2021, where he is currently facing charges of terrorism and treasonable felony.

Kanu’s legal team continues to push for his release, arguing that his detention violates international human rights standards.
