The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Ondo State has discovered an illegal crude oil reservoir hidden in a forest in Obe-Akingboye, Ilaje Local Government Area.
Spokesperson for the command, DSC Daniel Aidamenbor, disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday, March 25, in Akure, stating that the operation was carried out in collaboration with the Nigerian Army and TANTITA Security Service.

According to Aidamenbor, the discovery was made on Sunday at about 2:12 p.m., but no arrests were made as the suspects had fled before security operatives arrived.
Ondo State Commandant Oluyemi Ibiloye warned those involved in illegal petroleum activities to desist or face the full force of the law.
He also reaffirmed the command’s commitment to safeguarding national assets, particularly in the solid minerals sector.
