Tinubu Congratulates Jonathan on Sunhak Peace Award Win

President Bola Tinubu has extended his congratulations to former President Goodluck Jonathan on receiving the 2025 Sunhak Peace Founders’ Award. The president commended Jonathan’s unwavering commitment to promoting peace, harmony, and democratic principles, acknowledging the global recognition this dedication has earned him.

In a statement released on Tuesday, and signed by his spokesman, Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu emphasized that Jonathan’s receipt of the Sunhak Peace Award serves as a testament to his significant contributions to peacebuilding and the advancement of democracy across Africa and beyond.

President Tinubu specifically highlighted Jonathan’s pivotal role in the peaceful transfer of power following the 2015 presidential election, when he conceded victory to an opposition party. This act, the president noted, significantly bolstered Nigeria’s democratic standing on the international stage.

The statement also included President Tinubu’s appreciation to the Sunhak Peace Prize Committee for recognizing individuals who are dedicated to making positive contributions to global betterment.

Goodluck Jonathan was selected as the recipient of the 2025 Founders’ Sunhak Peace Award, which will be presented by the Sunhak Peace Prize Foundation in Seoul, South Korea.
