Edo Man Arrested for Killing Brother with Cutlass

A man, identified as Iyayi Omokaro, 38 years old, has been apprehended by the Edo State Police Command following the alleged fatal attack on his brother, Friday Omokaro. The incident, which resulted in the death of Friday Omokaro, transpired on March 25, 2025, within the Uzalla Community.

A statement issued on Thursday by the Edo State Police Command’s public relations officer, Chief Superintendent of Police Moses Joel Yamu, detailed that law enforcement received a report concerning the homicide at approximately 15:30 hours.

Ahor Police personnel, in collaboration with local vigilante groups, responded to the scene, recovering the deceased’s body. The victim was transported to a medical facility where he was pronounced dead.

The authorities also seized the weapon believed to have been used in the assault, a cutlass.

Initial investigative findings indicate that the deceased, Friday Omokaro, also 38, and his brother, Iyayi Omokaro, 34, were involved in a disagreement that escalated into a violent confrontation. During this altercation, Iyayi Omokaro is alleged to have used the cutlass to inflict fatal injuries on his elder sibling.

Iyayi Omokaro is currently in police custody as the investigation continues. He has reportedly admitted to the cr and is expected to face charges in a court of law.
