A tragic incident unfolded in the Asa 2 area of Otukpo town, Benue State, as suspected kidnappers struck, leaving one man dead and another abducted.
The attack, which occurred at approximately 7:00 p.m. on Monday, claimed the life of Mr. Onche Akatu, who was shot at his residence.
Meanwhile, another victim, identified as Mr. Ocheche, was abducted while on his way home after he inadvertently crossed paths with the assailants.
Eyewitnesses report that the violence has instilled fear among residents, prompting many to flee the area due to the recurrent cases of kidnappings and killings.

A source, speaking on the condition of anonymity, confirmed the harrowing details of the attack. “Mr. Onche Akatu was shot by suspected kidnappers in Asa 2 area of Otukpo around 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
Sadly, he succumbed to his injuries and passed away early Tuesday morning,” the source revealed. “The kidnappers also abducted another man near the crime scene, taking him to an undisclosed location.”
Efforts to obtain an official statement from the Benue State Police Command were unsuccessful, as the spokesperson, CSP Catherine Anene, did not respond to calls at the time of reporting.
The attack underscores the growing security concerns in the region, with residents calling on authorities to intensify efforts in tackling violent crime and ensuring their safety.
