The Kogi State Police Command has launched an investigation into the reported assault on Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan’s family residence.
The attack, allegedly carried out by gunmen, took place at her family home in Obeiba-Ihima, located within the Okehi Local Government Area of Kogi State.
According to a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP William Aya Ovye, the investigation was initiated following an emergency call made by Yakubu Ovanja, an aide to the senator, on the 16th of April, 2025. The distress call alerted the police to the ongoing attack, prompting immediate action from the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Okehi Division.

The statement detailed the incident: “At approximately 1:00 AM, around three assailants armed with cutlasses stormed the family residence, damaging several windows in the process. The attackers, in their attempt to break into the house, were confronted by Michael Akpoti, a young man who was present at the scene. He bravely raised an alarm, causing the assailants to flee before they could fully execute their plans.”
The Commissioner of Police, in response, has directed the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the Criminal Investigation Department to immediately begin a thorough investigation into the attack.
The goal is to determine the motives behind the assault and ensure those responsible are brought to justice.
