Grammy-nominated Nigerian singer Davido has revealed how his first encounter with American R&B star Chris Brown in 2018 became a turning point in his career.
Speaking on a recent episode of the Bagfuel Brigade podcast, Davido recounted how a Nigerian mutual friend facilitated their first interaction during a surprise FaceTime call.
“Meeting Chris Brown changed my life. I met him in 2018. He had a Nigerian friend, one of his best friends,” Davido said.
According to the ‘Feel’ crooner, the call came unexpectedly while his song was playing in the background. Curious about the location, he asked the caller where he was.

“The friend called me one day on Facetime and my song was playing at the background, I asked where he was and he said he was at Chris Brown’s house. I was like, ‘What? Y’all playing my music?’ And he showed me Chris dancing to my song,” he recalled.
The artist said the friend then handed the phone to Chris Brown, marking the beginning of their friendship.
“He gave Chris Brown the phone, that was the first time we had a conversation. A few months later, I went to America and linked up with Chris. From the first time we met, we just naturally became friends,” Davido added.
The two artists have since collaborated on several hit songs and performances, strengthening their cross-continental bond in the music industry.
