Aisha Achimugu Goes on Hunger Strike in EFCC Custody

Aisha Achimugu, known for her business acumen and high-society presence, is now in the custody of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and she’s refusing food.

Her legal team, led by Mr. Chikaosolu Ojukwu, revealed the development in a statement issued on the 29th of April, 2025, from Abuja.

Ojukwu disclosed that Achimugu was picked up by EFCC operatives around 5:00 am at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.

He stated: “In the light of what transpired in court on Monday, our client returned based on the undertaking before the court to honor the EFCC’s invitation, but was arrested at the airport.

“She has immediately gone on a hunger strike. She is a prisoner of conscience and our stand in the arrest is that it has run contrary to the rule of law.”

Last month, the EFCC had declared Achimugu wanted over money laundering and criminal conspiracy allegations.

On the 28th of April, 2025, Justice I.E. Ekwo of the Federal High Court, Abuja, directed her to appear before the EFCC on the 29th of April, and be present in court on the 30th of April, 2025.
