In a continued offensive against terrorism in the North-East, Nigerian troops under Operation Hadin Kai have eliminated seven suspected Boko Haram and Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) fighters during two separate operations in Borno State.
The development was revealed by counter-insurgency expert, Zagazola Makama, in a post on his X (formerly Twitter) handle on Thursday, citing intelligence sources familiar with the operations.
According to Makama, the first confrontation occurred on Wednesday near Rann along the Gamboru–Ngala Main Supply Route.
Troops of the 3 Battalion, working in synergy with Hybrid Forces and the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), intercepted the terrorists who were attempting to loot food supplies from a broken-down vehicle.
A firefight ensued, resulting in the death of six terrorists.
Troops recovered two AK-47 rifles from the scene, each loaded with a magazine—one containing four rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition and the other with six rounds.

In a separate mission, troops from the Forward Operating Base (FOB) in Molai staged an ambush near Komala village, along the Maiduguri–Damboa road in Damboa Local Government Area.
The operation, conducted based on actionable intelligence, targeted insurgents suspected to be moving towards the notorious Sambisa Forest.
One insurgent was killed in the ambush. Troops recovered several motorcycles and materials believed to be for improvised explosive devices (IEDs), which were reportedly intended for burial and future attacks.
Military insiders confirmed that the twin operations are part of sustained efforts to dismantle terrorist networks and restrict their movement within the North-East theatre.
The Nigerian Army continues to urge residents in the region to support ongoing security operations by providing credible intelligence.
