FCTA Staff Seals PDP National HQ Amid Crackdown on Rent Defaulters

The Federal Capital Territory Authority (FCTA) on Monday sealed the national secretariat of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Wadata Plaza, in Abuja, over years of unpaid ground rent.

At about 2:04 p.m., officials from the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA), accompanied by armed personnel from the military, police, civil defence, and vehicle inspection unit, stormed the building to enforce the closure.

The enforcement team met some resistance as PDP staff locked the main gate from the inside, blocking entry.

In response, the FCDA officials chained the entrance and placed a large seal notice that read: “This property is now owned by FCTA. 26-5-25.”

By 2:17 p.m., a brief truce allowed staff inside the building to retrieve their personal belongings and vehicles before exiting the premises.

The development disrupted a scheduled Board of Trustees (BoT) meeting, which was supposed to begin at 3 p.m. at the secretariat.

As a result, the PDP caucus quickly convened an emergency meeting at the Bauchi State Governor’s Lodge in Asokoro, Abuja.
