The Borno State Police Command has handed out N13,428,659.95 to the families of ten officers who died in active service two days after the quiet presentation ceremony at the Command Headquarters in Maiduguri.
Commissioner of Police, CP Naziru Abdulmajid, delivered the cheques on behalf of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, as part of the Group Life Assurance and IGP Family Welfare Scheme.
The command’s spokesperson, ASP Nahum Kenneth Daso, confirmed the disbursement in a statement, noting that the funds were aimed at easing the financial strain on the affected families.

CP Abdulmajid said the gesture reflects the IGP’s ongoing commitment to the welfare of both serving and fallen officers. He advised the beneficiaries to channel the money into meaningful ventures that would protect their future.
One of the recipients, Mr. Jerry Joel, speaking on behalf of the families, thanked the Nigeria Police for standing by them during their time of loss.
