Atiku Pushes Curriculum Overhaul to Spark Youth Entrepreneurship

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar stepped away from political activities on the 29th of June, 2025, to attend the Graduation and Prize-Giving event at Pacesetters’ School in Abuja.

During his address, he pushed for a shift in the current education system, stressing the need for a curriculum that combines knowledge with entrepreneurial training.

Atiku emphasized that for Nigeria to fully tap into its human potential, strengthen national unity, and drive progress, education must be intentionally funded and prioritized.

He maintained that education remains “the most powerful weapon for human development,” and said it gives young people the tools they need to become professionals whether as doctors, engineers, or in any field they choose.

The PDP’s former presidential flagbearer spoke about how education shaped his life path, crediting his accomplishments to the strong academic base he received early on.

He urged the graduating class to stay committed to learning as they move into higher institutions.

Reflecting on his school days in 1961, Atiku recalled the impact of American Peace Corps teachers who stepped in after British educators left Nigeria.

“They played a significant role in shaping my academic foundation. That influence stayed with me and inspired me to adopt an American-style curriculum in my own schools,” he revealed.
