Chairman of the Conference of Speakers of State Legislatures in Nigeria, Adebo Ogundoyin, has called on the National Assembly to accelerate work on the constitution review process.
Ogundoyin, who also serves as the Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, stressed the need for early completion of the amendment process to ensure a smooth transition.
He made the call in Abuja at the 2025 National Assembly Open Week.
In a statement released on Wednesday, the 9th of July, 2025, Ogundoyin stressed the value of a stronger constitutional base for the country.
He explained that achieving this depends on open and inclusive legislative efforts.

He reaffirmed the conference’s commitment to working with the National Assembly on reforms that respond to Nigeria’s current realities.
He also restated the group’s resolve to protect legislative authority across all levels.
“We respectfully urge the National Assembly to sustain the current momentum on the constitutional review process. Any loss of this momentum, however unintended, risks diminishing the impact and relevance of the reforms. The conference will continue to foster constructive synergy in pursuit of national development.
“Timely conclusion will enable amendments to be implemented well ahead of the next general elections.”
