Operatives of the Ogun State Police Command have rescued three kidnapped victims unhurt and arrested two suspected kidnappers after a gun duel at a hideout near Ajebo in the Owode-Egba area.
The breakthrough followed the swift response of the police to a reported abduction on July 16, 2025.
According to a statement by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Omolola Odutola, officers of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit deployed intelligence surveillance, tracked the hideout, and launched an operation that led to the victims’ rescue on July 18 at about 9:00 pm.

During the raid, the police team came under fire from the kidnappers. In the ensuing shootout, two of the suspects were arrested with serious gunshot wounds, while another escaped into the forest with injuries.
Items recovered from the scene include:
One AK-47 rifle (Breech No. 5005584)
139 rounds of 5.6mm ammunition
One magazine
One cutlass
Chains and padlocks (allegedly used to restrain the victims)
₦1,200,035 in cash (suspected proceeds of crime)
Several mobile phones
Confirming the operation, Commissioner of Police, CP Lanre Ogunlowo, said a manhunt has been launched for the fleeing suspects. He emphasized that the Command remains resolute in its zero-tolerance stance against kidnapping and other violent crimes.
“The Command will continue to do all within its power to dismantle criminal networks threatening the safety and peace of residents,” the statement added.
