Media personality Buchi Solomon says he has deactivated his Nigerian Twitter account, describing the platform as toxic and unproductive for meaningful discourse.
In a post shared via his Instagram stories, Solomon stated that while Twitter can be a vibrant space for conversation, the Nigerian segment—popularly referred to as Naija Twitter or +234 Twitter—had become intolerable for him.
“Twitter is a hellsite and Nigerian Twitter is actually worse than hell. Everything is sane until it meets Twitter and then it becomes narcissistic,” he wrote.
The commentator added that he was “way over” what he described as “Nigerian stupid conversations” and no longer wanted to encounter such topics on his feed.

He revealed that he has opened a new Twitter account where he posts and occasionally interacts with British Twitter users instead.
According to him, the shift was driven by a desire to engage with people who can “disagree without cussing me out.”
Solomon’s remarks have drawn mixed reactions online, with some agreeing about the toxicity of certain online spaces, while others defended Nigerian Twitter as a hub for cultural trends and political engagement.
