Three boys lost their lives after drowning in a pond located behind the General Hospital in Monguno, Borno State.
Security analyst Zagazola Makama disclosed the incident in a post on X, on Friday, the 8th of August, 2025.
The deceased Mallam Gana Mohammed, Modu Audu Saleh, and Abba Ngumami lived at the Water Board IDP Camp in Monguno.
Muhammed Aisami, father of one of the victims, said the boys had gone swimming at about 7:40 a.m. on Thursday, the 7th of August, when the tragedy occurred.

“Emergency workers and police rushed to the scene, where they recovered the bodies with the help of local residents. Medical staff at the General Hospital in Monguno confirmed the deaths and reported no signs of violence,” Makama stated.
The remains have been released to their families for burial in line with Islamic rites.
