Ibadan Traders to Shut Markets in Honour of Olubadan Olakulehin

Traders in Ibadan, Oyo State, have confirmed that markets across the city will remain closed in honour of the 43rd Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Akinloye Owolabi Olakulehin.

Recall that Olakulehin passed away on Monday, the 7th of July, 2025, and his final burial rites are scheduled for today, the 8th of August, 2025.

The Babaloja General of the state, Alhaji Yekeen Abass, stated that all traders have been directed to observe the closure as a mark of respect for the late monarch.

According to him, the partial closure will run from 5 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Friday, the 8th or August, 2025.

He urged market leaders and traders to fully comply with the directive across all markets in Ibadanland.
