Former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, has firmly denied claims that he is part of any alliance with opposition parties, stressing that his loyalty to the All Progressives Congress (APC) has not wavered.
In a personally signed statement released on Sunday, August 10, Mustapha described reports linking him to the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and an alleged opposition coalition as “fake news” that should be ignored.
“I am not in any opposition alliance, and I am not in any discussion with those who are involved,” he said.
Mustapha, who served as SGF from 2017 to 2023 under President Muhammadu Buhari, reminded Nigerians of his role in building the APC from the ground up.
As Deputy National Chairman of the defunct Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), he played a key role in the 2013 merger that brought together several parties to form the APC.

“As the Deputy National Chairman of the ACN, the largest political party with six governors at the time of the merger and the formation of the All Progressives Congress, I can rightly claim that I am one of the founding fathers of the governing party,” he said.
He made it clear that leaving the APC has never been on his mind.
“I cannot, therefore, in all reasonableness, walk away from a party I helped to form. If our party has problems, as all the other parties do, we will stay in the party and fix those problems.
“We don’t solve problems by decamping to other parties,” Mustapha said.
He also appealed to political actors and the public to stop linking his name to opposition movements, reaffirming that he stands firmly by the APC and its principles.
