Rivers ADC Hits 800,000 Members, Welcomes Two Ex-Govs, Secondus, Others

The African Democratic Congress, ADC, in Rivers State has announced that its membership has now surpassed 800,000.

Speaking at a weekend press briefing in Port Harcourt, the party’s spokesman, Luckyman Egila, said the chapter has continued to attract high-profile politicians, including two former governors and several federal lawmakers.

Egila described the Rivers ADC as “a beautiful bride,” noting that it has been “receiving key politicians into its fold” ahead of the 2027 polls.

He identified the former governors as Rotimi Amaechi and Celestine Omehia, adding that Prince Uche Secondus, former national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, “is also a member of the ADC.”

“These persons have left their former parties, and they are now full members of the ADC. And you can only become a member of a party when you have registered with that party and issued it with a membership card. So all of them are now full members of the ADC,” he said.

Egila also mentioned former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Chief Austin Okpara, and ex-Minister of Transport, Dr Abiye Sekibo, as part of the ADC’s growing list of influential members in the state.

“The names I have mentioned are all key politicians in Rivers State, and of course, you can’t write these people off. They are all members of the ADC,” he added.
