Human rights activist and former presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, says the Nigeria Police Force has recovered and returned his stolen Ray-Ban Meta eyeglasses.
In a post on his verified X account on Tuesday, Sowore stated that the item, previously reported stolen by FirstDaily, was taken by one Aku Victor Chiemerie, whom he described as the “National Thief.” He shared a photograph of himself wearing the recovered glasses, thanking the police for returning them.
“Today, the Nigeria Police Force returned my stolen Ray-Ban Meta eyeglasses, stolen by the National Thief, Aku Victor Chiemerie, to me! #RevolutionNow,” Sowore wrote.
The activist, known for leading the #RevolutionNow movement and for his outspoken stance on governance and corruption, did not provide further details about the circumstances of the recovery.

While the theft had already generated attention after initial reports by FirstDaily, the recovery has sparked fresh reactions online, with some commending the police for acting promptly and others treating the incident with humour.
The Nigeria Police Force has yet to issue an official statement on the case.
