The Ogun State Security Network, also known as the Amotekun Corps, has apprehended five suspects in connection with a violent robbery, assault, and malicious damage incident involving two tricycle operators along the Lagos/Abeokuta Expressway in the early hours of Monday.
In a statement issued on Tuesday by the Corps Commander, Brigadier General Alade Adedigba (retd.), the suspects were identified as Clement Samuel, 30; Clement Monday, 23; Olabode Yusuf, 36; Sodipo Taiwo, 34; and Ogunsakin Yemisi Opeyemi, 22.
The arrests followed a coordinated patrol led by Ifo Command Coordinator, Omotunde Dotun, after credible intelligence reported an armed attack at Apomu. Victims Dada Oluwaseun, 29, and Oluwajuwonlo Moshood, 24, were said to have been violently assaulted while working as tricycle riders.
According to the statement, the suspects — allegedly known locally as “customs camp boys” — attacked the victims with a locally-made pistol, shattering their tricycle windshields, inflicting severe injuries, and making away with two high-end mobile phones and N40,000 in cash. The stolen items included Samsung and iPhone devices, while the victims also suffered significant property damage and psychological trauma.

Olabode Yusuf and Clement Samuel were identified by the victims as the primary attackers, both of whom reportedly have a history of criminal activity in the area. Upon arrest in Oke-Lemo, Papalanto, and Apomu within Ifo and Ewekoro local government areas, operatives recovered a locally-made pistol, charms, and a jackknife from the suspects.
Commending the operatives for their swift and effective response, Brig Gen Adedigba described the arrests as a “significant victory” in the state’s fight against violent crime. He assured residents of continued efforts to restore peace and security in all communities.
The suspects and recovered evidence have been transferred to the appropriate police authorities for further investigation and prosecution.
